Expedition Captain
Operational Route Planning &
Tactical Chart Review

Expedition Captain is an operational maritime interoperability platform for navigation teams: prepare, review, and hand off routes and tracks in the browser with an operational chart, structured route table, corridor and turn-radius editing, and multi-format interchange (RTZ, GPX, RT3, KML/KMZ, GeoJSON, and more)—without uploading your voyage files for processing.

Operational preparation

Route workspace

Review passages on the chart and in a route table built for serious editing: waypoint and leg rows, sticky columns, waypoint navigation along long chains, and horizontal pan when the table is wide.

Chart review

EBL / VRM and ruler overlays for bearing and distance checks during review—alongside turn-radius preview on routes. Review aids stay on the chart; exports follow the waypoint table.

Corridor and turn radius

Edit port and starboard cross-track distance where your formats carry it, apply values along a chain when useful, and adjust turn radii on the map or in the table. The chart preview reflects your radii for route review only—exports follow the table.

Interoperability

Import and export across RTZ (including Sperry-orientated profiles), GPX, RT3 (Transas planning interchange—use RTZ for typical ECDIS hand-off), KML/KMZ, GeoJSON, NACOS XML, Olex, and other common marine encodings—aimed at clean hand-off rather than proprietary lock-in.

Compatibility reference

Indicative import and export expectations by system are available in Expedition Captain Lite’s Compatibility tab—always verify on your target equipment before operational use.

Tracks and local processing

Thin dense recorded tracks with controlled simplification before export. Import, preview, and export run in your browser so passage data stay on your device.

Expedition Captain Lite

Expedition Captain Lite at expeditioncaptain.app is an operational maritime interoperability platform: structured route review, corridor-aware editing, multi-format interchange, and a built-in compatibility reference—built for expedition-grade passage preparation, not as a substitute for certified bridge equipment.

For home-screen install or pinning, open expeditioncaptain.app in Chrome or Edge—the operational entry point for Expedition Captain Lite.

Direction

Expedition Captain is built for navigation officers and expedition teams who need dependable interchange, disciplined passage preparation, and a platform that matures with real operational use—not a substitute for certified ECDIS or mandatory equipment.

Expedition Captain Lite at expeditioncaptain.app is actively evolving: route planning, tactical chart review, corridor and geometry tooling, multi-format interchange, and export workflows are maintained with expedition-grade seriousness and architectural intention.

Deeper planning layers and operator-focused capabilities will extend the same platform over time. The ecosystem is designed for long-term operational use across marketing presence at expeditioncaptain.com and live operations at expeditioncaptain.app.

Remember: Expedition Captain is an operational aid only. The master and bridge team remain responsible for validating routes on the intended equipment and for safe navigation.
